How to Add Rentals in Origin

Advice for single gear rentals or multiple gear rentals for a listing

There are a few ways you can do this: One is as an add-on and the other is a standalone piece of gear you're renting.

To create gear rental add-ons

1. Go to Payments.

2. Click Add Ons.

3. Click New add on at the bottom of the page.

4. Enter the name of the gear, price, description, and listings it's available for.

5. Select Admin-Only if it's an add-on that only admins are allowed to use.

6. Click Save.

Note: if you offer multiple gear rental options per listing, make them add-ons.

To create standalone rental gear

Make A Listing

1. Make a new listing for the type of gear, by clicking Listings and then New Listing.

2. Complete the listing as if you would a trip. The same structure of the listings exists here too, so a full-day and half-day rental would be 2 listings because of the different duration and prices.

3. For pricing, do the fixed price per person and set the seats on the listing for the maximum amount of items you’d want to be rented or the max you have.

4. Save it at the end.

Create Inventory Type

5. Then create your inventory by clicking Inventory, then Type.

6. Click Add new inventory type. This is to pool your inventory (Try making your type specific - for example, 'Bike' or 'Kayak').

7. Click Save.

8. Under Inventory on the left side column, click Edit.

9. Scroll to the bottom and click 'add new inventory item.'

10. Fill out Name, Identifier, and Seats.

11. Select Type (what you just created) and the Rental Gear listing you made.

12. Click Save.

Note: This is good for companies who offer rentals outside of trips.

How this relates to inventory:

Make sure to add the listings (e.g one for climbing shoes and one for a crash pad) to each item in the inventory.
