How To Invite Guides To Your Company

How to add guides to your Origin company and configure their permissions.

Every guide in your company gets their own Origin account and personal calendar so you can manage their availability, assignments, and permissions all in one place.

Inviting a New Guide

  1. In the left sidebar, click Guides, then select Manage.

  2. Click the Invite Guide button.

  3. Enter the guide's name, email address, and phone number.

  4. Select the Categories this guide can lead (you can add or change these later).

  5. Click Invite.

The guide will receive a text and email with a link to create their Origin account. Once they complete setup, their schedule becomes visible to you and they can begin being assigned to bookings.

Categories are critical. The categories you assign determine which listings a guide can be assigned to. A guide without the correct category will never be assigned to a matching listing — and trips without an available guide in the right category will not show as bookable. You can always update a guide's categories after inviting them.

Updating a Guide's Permissions and Categories

After a guide is added, you can manage all of their settings from the same Guides → Manage page:

  1. Go to Guides → Manage.

  2. Click the lock icon in the Edit Permissions column next to the guide's name.

  3. In the Edit guide permissions modal, you can update:

  • Categories — which listing types this guide can be assigned to.

  • Lead Guide Categories — if you use the Lead Guide feature, assign lead-eligible categories here.

  • Company Admin — grants the guide access to admin features like the booking dashboard.

  • Display on Public Pages — controls whether this guide's profile appears on your public website. Guides must have this enabled to count toward availability.

If You Are the Admin and Also a Guide

If you guide your own trips, you need to assign yourself guide categories as well. Your admin account will appear in the Guides → Manage list. Click the lock icon next to your name to open your own permissions modal and assign the appropriate categories. Without this, your trips won't show as bookable even if you're the only person running them.
